A Little Bit About MaryRose
|
When Minnesota singer/songwriter MaryRose Varo performs, live audiences regularly comment on the purity, strength and simplicity of her voice and listeners are moved by the powerful emotion expressed in her music.
A northern Minnesota native, MaryRose debuted at eight with solos in church. During high school her strong musical sense coupled with her Christian faith was implemental in the success of her first performing group, “His Dimensions“, which she formed and directed. It grew from five to fifty members in three years. Varo wrote and arranged many of their pieces, some of which were later included on their sell-out album. In college she led the contemporary Christian band “The Best of Friends” which successfully toured colleges, churches and coffeehouses for over two years. She continued to work in youth ministry, directing several musical and theatrical groups which toured locally. “Now married, family life centers her and allows her creativity to flourish.

Her debut CD “This Old Farm” written in honor of a friend's century farm celebration is receiving widespread recognition across Minnesota and beyond as she performs it at county and state fair Century Farm Recognitions. Many farms are reaching that century mark and this piece calls up the feeling we have for those precious lands of our heritage. Unsung Hero, released in 2005, brings tribute and thanks to our veterans, military personnel and their families. Thousands have been touched by the sincere words and uplifting melody of this song! MaryRose was invited to perform it at Arlington National Cemetery and continues to touch many people here at home as she performs for various veteran and memorial events.
MaryRose accepts commissions to write songs for specific occasions and enjoys sharing in the experience of those for who she composes. Her ability to musically make their cause her own is remarkable - allowing her music to be especially meaningful and empowering.
